A rather pleasant and interesting cool fall eve, taking moments through the night to step out to gaze in wonder at our nearest celestial friend.
Luna, the moon, casting the same face toward us for eons as she makes her daily trek across the sky. At this moment leaving the totality of the last total lunar eclipse till 2007. I often wonder how the physics worked to capture what was once part of our world and lock it into that unchanging view.
Can she be truly lifeless? Something that exerts such forces upon our world, changing tides and weather and our psyches? An entity that has inspired countless legends & tales and our quest to set foot on her surface.
She appears a soft orangey-pink, smaller and somehow a bit quieter tonight, but give her a few hours and she will again reign in the heavens.
We are so insignificant ...
